Virtual GCSE Science Required Practicals

I’ve been helping to develop an online science learning platform called Core Sciences. This website has all of the required practicals, for Biology, Chemistry and Physics, but virtually! Students are able to perform a practical as they would in the classroom; picking up equipment, pouring solutions and taking measurements. They can also collect their own data as they would in a real practical, and interpret results. The website also has revision powerpoints and test questions. Teachers also have the ability to monitor class data and see how students are performing against their target grades.

As a Science teacher, I’ve found it to be an excellent resource which I’ve used with my students. It’s been particularly useful at the moment because of the Coronavirus outbreak, and students are stuck at home unable to do any practical work. It gives them a chance to properly understand the essential practical skills that are required for GCSE Sciences.
