The source text is based on a 'der stern' article about Halloween in Germany. It has been simplified and changed to make it accessible for learners of the language. Pupils will have the opportunity to learn more about why Halloween has established itself in Germany. There are seven different activities linked to the source text. They cover reading comprehension as well as translation, work on compounds, lexical items and language production. Please feed back. Thanks.
For the end of KS3, possibly KS4. Spoken practice of 'weil' sentences. Fun questions on animals, answers could be cut out for a more kinaesthetic approach. Finding solution could involve dictionary and group work. Idea taken from some German material ages ago.

The teacher presentation is a summary of 20 school rules using modal verbs. This is great for revision. There are two tests. In one test the pupils match the English statement to the German phrase in a grid. Alternatively the grid could be cut up and used in a kagan "Quiz Quiz trade" activity. The second test is translation from English to German. There is differentiated support whereby the number of letters provided for each word is provided. This works well as reinforcement to assess recall of the vocabulary.
