A decent beginning lesson to the difference between mass and weight. I give the pupils Newton meters and get them to weigh items of their choosing, as well as use a mass balance. Naturally the multiplying factor if gravity. There is a good chance to discuss error here as often Newton meters are not zeroed, so low mass items do not fit the pattern. The plenary is a true, false or partially true matter. Pupils agree or correct statements.

The gravity bubbles idea is great for a starter to get students thinking! Thanks!
