Why it’s useful: This lesson improves the ability of pupils to understand causation by examining the causes of WWI through a long-term perspective as well as a short-term perspective. In this lesson, pupils are also introduced to the important historical concepts of nationalism, imperialism, militarism and alliances
Learning objectives:
To understand the MAIN (militarism, Alliances, Imperialism and Nationalism) long-term causes of WWI
To examine the extent to which WWI was inevitable in consideration of the tensions within Europe before WWI started.
