Using the 2004 SATs reading test, I have modelled this test entirely on the questions within this test. Using one of the chapters from my book 'Dexter and Dood - superheroes,&' the story looked at inference and deduction using the SATS style technique. The answers and levels are included.

I couldn't use this for year 2 due to the incorrect grammar throughout. My middle ability year 2 children picked up on several mistakes including comma use so we had to stop.
Challenging and good to work at as a guided group activity pushing the children on. The children enjoyed the story and it really stretched them. I would not use it as a test though.

Far too difficult for my Year3 class. Very complex language. A great resource but maybe for much older more able children?
