About Gorsey Bank Primary School
At Gorsey Bank we believe that whatever children’s interests, passions or talents, instilling a love of ‘Learning for Life’ is the most important thing we can do for them. Developing the right knowledge, skills and attitudes to enable our pupils to become motivated, passionate and resilient learners is central to the Gorsey Bank philosophy and is at the heart of everything we do. Our mission is to nurture lifelong learners who are ready to embrace the opportunities and challenges of the outside world.
We are a highly oversubscribed school with a proven track record of outstanding pupil attainment which placed us in the top 5% of schools nationally for our most recent Key Stage 2 results.
Gorsey Bank converted to academy status and became a proud member of the Laurus Trust in October 2016. Originally founded by Cheadle Hulme High School, the Laurus Trust and now comprises four new free schools – Cheadle Hulme Primary School, Laurus Cheadle Hulme, Laurus Ryecroft and Didsbury High School. Hazel Grove High School joined the Trust in September 2019. We also offer school-centred teacher training through the Altius Alliance which was judged Outstanding by Ofsted in 2017.
“For everyone, regardless of background or circumstance, to be inspired, to thrive in all environments, to recognise what it takes to succeed, to set aspirational goals and to work hard to achieve them.”
As well as being unashamedly academic, Laurus schools focus on developing each pupil’s self-confidence and voice skills. We inspire our pupils to broaden their horizons and to believe that ‘anything is possible’ because we understand that this is the key to post-education success.
We attach huge importance to continued Professional Learning and recognise that, in the exciting and ever-changing environment in which we work, we are all learners and are constantly looking for ways to improve our practice.
Our comprehensive programme of in-house Professional Learning comprises weekly pedagogy based sessions, Further Professional Learning sessions, opportunities to coach and mentor and engaging in research.
Being part of a Multi Academy Trust enables our staff to work across schools and phases. Not only does this broaden their experience, it opens up a wider range of leadership opportunities.
As a Trust we actively develop our teachers through nationally accredited programmes such as the NPQ's and many of our staff have completed courses at Masters level. All members of our Senior Leadership Team are Specialist Leaders of Education (SLEs). This means they can support other schools and deliver programmes including those offered by our School Centered Initial Teacher Training (SCITT).
If you want to work in a highly ambitious and successful school and believe you have the vision and commitment to join our team, then we would love to hear from you.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment.
