This Chemistry revision pack looks at how crude oil is separated, the bonding in hydrocarbons, the different types of formula used in organic molecules, properties and the uses of different fractions. The handout also looks at command words and how the 'same question' with a different command word has a very different response.

This Biology revision pack looks at the process of photosynthesis and links it to how limiting factors affect the rate of photosynthesis. There is also a focussed activity where students label a diagram of a leaf. The card sort activity supports this learning.

Density

(0)
This lesson package can be used at KS2, KS3 or KS4 to allow students to measure mass and volume of different materials and use these data to calculate density. To extend students, they can use data books to determine the identity of the material from its density, they can also be given density information of different liquids e.g. liquid metals, water and oil. They can then be asked to predict if the materials would float or sink in these liquids. The materials include a full lesson plan, PowerPoint Presentation with information as well as prompts for the activity and a worksheet to lead students through the lesson.

AQA Chemistry Kc (Equilbrium constant)

(2)
This lesson is designed to recap knowledge on dynamic equilbrium using the blue bottle demonstration. The lesson then introduces the idea of Kc and how it can be calculated. Some AQA questions are used to show students how this topic may be examined. Give students the introduction sheet and allow them to use their text book to define the key words. At the end of each lesson they can tick off the spec statement that has been covered. In preparation for the exams they can colour code the spec statements to show their confidence level (green - confident, yellow - requires some consolidation and pink - needs to go over this section fully). You may wish to give students the hand out on this topic area found https://chemrevise.org/revision-guides/.

AQA Triology Cell Biology Topic Sheets

These topic sheets have the specification excerpt and then a list of key words. These are versatile resources which can be used: Before the topic - Ask students to define the key words using the text book as the first homework. During the topic - Students reflect every lesson, defining new key words that have been met in the lesson, and ticking off the specification sections that they have covered. Revision - Colour code the specification statements using a highlighter to show the parts that students are confident with (green), need to consolidate (yellow) and do not understand (pink). This can then drive their own revision. They can define the key words using their text book/notes.
