I have designed this lesson with different outdoor environments available and also putting emphasis on students to create their own methods which will allow them to have more to discuss in Learning Aim D about skills they have developed

Layout of the lesson
•What is sampling and why is it done
•Think-pair-share where students discuss the reasons why plants may be distributed the way they are from a photo followed by content on what distribution is
•Loose method on how random sampling is done, why it’s done and how it can be done to investigate the effect of light intensity on the distribution of plants
•Loose method on how systemic sampling (transect) is done, why it’s done and how it can be done to investigate the effect of light intensity on the distribution of plants
•Content to encourage students to think which plant to sample and why as well as where to sample
•3 methods of how to measure plant distribution with diagrams - Percentage frequency, percentage cover, no.of organisms
•Students write their own method with a success criteria and write a risk assessment
• Guide slide on data analysis for what type of graph students should draw as well as content students need to include on describing and explaining data
•Evaluation guides with prompts to support students in writing and in-depth evaluation. It is wise to encourage students to think about their own experiences during the practical for where issues may have arisen and how these could be resolved in the future
