The bar method is a popular way of teaching how to add two numbers together. Each question has two bars with numbers, and one blank bar. Then students work out which number goes in the blank bar.

All our resources follow the UK National Curriculum, which is used by schools and educational institutions around the world. Students are usually in Year 1 (5-6 years old, in Key Stage 1) when they learn about the bar method.

This digital resource pack contains:

  • two worksheets with sums to fill in the gaps of
  • a separate answers sheet
