The coastal waters of Namibia are the graveyard of many ships. The sea, with its bounty of fish stocks, challenges those who venture into the Atlantic Ocean. In the midst of this potential disaster one "gift" of the sea is the sand spit which lies at the southern entrance of Walvis Bay. This natural spit has created a buffer, a safe harbour for many ships to anchor, discharge and collect cargoes. It is the trading hub of shipping for Namibia. Not far north of the settlement of Walvis Bay there is a reminder of the danger of the seas. It is the wreck of the "Zeila" - a fishing trawler headed for the scrapyard. This is a stand alone study of these situations. Ample maps and specially prepared diagrams make this a unit where you can display, discuss and understand the benefits and dangers of this coastal area in a country that most people know little about. Enjoy the experience.
