Students will read a timeline of Gandhi’s life and legendary career as a peacemaker, then answer comprehension questions which call for inference and use of text evidence. Students will also complete a writing prompt that targets comparing and contrasting.

Why it’s useful: This is perfect for readers to integrate reading comprehension skills such as citing text evidence, using inference, use of chronological nonfiction text structure, compare and contrast, and it throws in a writing prompt.

**Who it’s for: **Teachers and students who need a meaningful expository text activity that assesses reading comprehension, or that fits into a unit about social justice, equal rights, or history.

**What’s included: **A timeline of Gandhi’s life, written in paragraph chunks (chronological nonfiction text structure), comprehension questions and writing prompt, with lines included so the packet can be turned in as a completed assessment. An answer key for the questions is also included.
