You project the grid onto the board and pick 2 pupils to stand, one on each side. You ask a question eg decimal equivalent to 1/4 or 10% and the first pupil to ‘slap’ the answer is awarded a point – the first to three points stays at the board and a fresh challenger is picked. Once pupils have got the hang of the type of question you can go round the room with pupils asking the questions – they get very good at favouring one of the contestants over the other. I usually have a rule that pupils cannot change their mind once they have slapped the board.

This is a nice idea for a starter on equivalent FDP, as explained students must 'slap' the FDP which is equivalent to the one called. The resource is just a grid, it would be nice if there were some sort of animation so that it changed colour or something to make it more visual;y clear which one had been chosen. Still, it is a good resource and it is a great idea to get other students calling out the questions. Thank you for sharing.
