Functional Skills - English - Match Of The Day - Football

These worksheets have been designed and proven to educate learners on a variety of subjects that will enhance knowledge, creativity, individuality and embed valuable functional skills.

The resource can be used effectively in English/Tutorials sessions. It is suitable for Entry Level 3/Level 1 (although lots of scopes to differentiate within the tasks and an Editable Word Doc is Available).

This particular workbook focuses on reading comprehension and includes a fictional football match report. The Learners are set tasks to confirm understanding by answering open questions, determining true, false or unknown information and differentiating between the facts and opinions within the article.

Extension Activity - Learners can re write segments of the report using their own words and terminology and including both fact and opinion. They could also write a report on an actual game that could include their favourite football team.

It requires learners to demonstrate various skills and subtly embeds many of the Functional skills as are necessary for assessment.
