Four booklets cover the core Level 1 text types: article, report, formal letter and email. Each one breaks the task into small, achievable steps (understand the task, see the layout, plan, choose language from a phrase bank, proofread, draft, improve, final version), then finishes with a fresh task to try independently.

The Writing Scaffolding Toolkit gives six more writing situations, each with a short plan and a paragraph to practise first: asking permission to decorate, swapping two shifts, a report on a repair café, instructions for getting a home ready, an explanation of a toy library and a narrative about the day the weather changed.
