A short group exercise that asks students to produce their own definition of human rights. Students are then directed to YouTube links and then given the opportunity to re-examine and edit their definition. The PowerPoint is flexible enough that it could be used to stimulate discussion or as a springboard to a written task. This is then followed by a timeline exercise wherein students are required to do online research to learn about the development of human rights throughout history. Links to all online resources are contained in the PowerPoint. Originally used with an IB Global Politics class, it could be adapted for use with younger grades.
