IELTS Writing Task 2 - A Balanced Argument

This lesson should follow the ‘opinion’ essay resource. The resource encourages students to consider how to structure a response, paying close attention to initial planning, followed by a choice of how to organise the plan into effective paragraphs.

Sample responses are provided to discuss how to use connectives and the pros and cons of developing a balanced argument essay in the two different ways demonstrated.

Students should feel more empowered to approach this writing task, after having completed two plans and discussed sample responses.
