This lesson looks at how Disney has interpreted King John in the film Robin Hood and compares this to other sources of King John. (both primary and secondary) This lesson covers the key Historical concept of interpretation and gets students to think about how people can come to different conclusions about things.

The desired outcome is for the students to judge whether the interpretation presented by Disney is accurate or not.

I would recommend this lesson is taught after a knowledge based lesson on King John so the students know who he is and what he was like as a King.

There are extension tasks within the main activity for higher ability students. Also the 'demonstrate' task at the end allows students to choose which task they want to do depending on ability range and confidence.

The only resource is the powerpoint as the King John sources and tacked onto the end of the lesson.

I hope this lesson will be useful to you.
