What do you get in this pack?

Poetry Scheme of Work in line with the new AQA Literature exam. There are 7 additional resources included in this pack (Poems pre-formatted, Mark Scheme from AQA, Formative Assessment Slide, Summative Assessment Slide, Homework Project, Revision Card Template, Word Bank)

Planned for year 8 but can be used for any year group with adaptation of levels and exam board criteria.

Things you need to know when using this resource:

- This scheme of work looks at two different clusters of poems (Culture and Relationships) based on older anthologies and the idea of comparison which is explored at GCSE level.

- Lesson explanations are found on the SOW .

- Lesson objectives are based on the new for 2016 AQA literature exam (Worked back from Band 9 but conversions to grades/levels are included in Resource 2)

- All resources are listed at the top and labelled in the title of the PowerPoint accordingly.

- All LO have been taken from the new for 2016 AQA literature exam – you will need to delete as applicable for your age/ability range. (For leveled outcomes please use Resource 2)

- The homework is set out at the beginning of term and needs to be completed once a week – this will be ticked in class and kept in a folder for presentation at the end of the term (at the teachers discretion if kept in school or at home).

- Focus question – this is laid out at the beginning and end of every term and an evaluation of “thinking outside the box” for the students – does their opinion change as the term goes on – this should be referred to throughout the term.

- There are two main assessments per term: Formative assessment with written feedback and an improvement task and Summative Assessment with a WWW/EBI task for moving forward.

- Most lessons are long enough for 2 hours of teaching as annotation will be time consuming - there are 16 lessons overall.
