WHOOSH: Rules for a Successful Classroom Performance

  • The teacher reads the WHOOSH script aloud to the class.
  • Students sit in a circle so everyone is included and can clearly see each other.
  • As the teacher reads a character name, the next student in the circle stands up immediately and takes on that role.
  • The student enacts the character through simple movement, expression, and says any associated speech clearly and confidently.
  • When the teacher says WHOOSH, everyone in the circle sits down straight away, resetting the activity.
  • The next character named by the teacher continues the rotation with the next student in the circle.
  • Students should stay focused and ready, listening carefully for their turn.
  • All students are encouraged to take part, there are no spectators, only performers in rotation.
  • Energy should be positive, supportive, and inclusive so everyone feels confident to join in.
