This worksheet is to support a Maths lesson on ‘Measuring length using objects’. It is aimed at year 1 children but is a useful resource for year 2, as it builds on their knowledge before focusing on standard units of measurement (cm and m).
The resource requires children to physically measure objects around them using cubes but also to record this down on their worksheet. Year one could focus on the drawing aspect, whereas year 2 or high attaining year 1s can write it as a sentence as well as draw.
This activity can also be completed outside the classroom, making it more engaging and getting children up off their feet!
The learning objective for this resource is ‘to measure and compare the length of objects using cubes or other non-standard units of measure’ eg using cubes, rubbers, stones etc.
