This final unit completes the series by once again visiting the cave settlements and attempting to solve the riddle. Why were these cave "cities" abandoned? There is room here for discussion and debate. The possible reasons are listed, and examined. The scientific findings are given but the conclusive reason/s are left open for discussion. Now the Mesa Verde study crosses curriculum areas into aspects of climatology, dendrochronology, palynology, and archaeology.
