A roughly 40-minute lesson used as an interview lesson which introduces personification as a device to describe natural disasters; more specifically, tsunamis. It is aimed at a mixed ability Year 4 class, but could be adapted to higher or lower levels. The lesson includes discussion of what a tsunami is, what personification is, an excerpt from the book “Running Wild” by Michael Morpurgo and a self-assessment task, before a main writing task.
