This is a short, fun lesson (30-50 minutes in length depending on ability level) about pirates in literature and poetry, designed to be delivered to Year 5 and 6 students for last year's World Book Day, but which can be scaled down to suit a Year 4 class, or adapted upwards to work for a Year 7 group as well.

The lesson includes opportunities for discussion and student feedback, vocabulary recall, writing device analysis, a pirate-y version of kung-fu punctuation, participation reading of a poem, a short writing task, and a custom made word search.
