This is a guide to punctuation that I wrote for my KS4 and KS5 students, though I’ve started giving a (sometimes adapted) version to KS3. It contains explanations and examples of (1) what makes a full sentence, (2) how to avoid comma splices, (3) when to use commas, (4) when to use apostrophes, (5) when to use a semicolon, (6) when to use a colon, and (7) a recap of word classes.
