Ratios, equations, graphs and tables of values for 5 different relationships, 4 of which are directly proportional. (Worked well with mid-ability Yr 9) Suggest that pupils start by matching the tables of values to the graphs. Then let them work out how the ratios and equations are related to these. y = x squared is included to compare a non-directly proportional relationship. (Extension: how does the gradient of the graph fit in?)

I really like this resource as it pulls together different areas to maths - straight line graphs, ratio, tables of values and I'm adding in direct proportionality. Many thanks for sharing.

A nice starter/plenary activity which differentiates in that some pupils can focus on matching graphs to equations and tables of values whilst the more able can go on to match the related ratios. It is helpful that the printable cards are available.
