For schools interested in linking to The Coronation of HM The King and HM The Queen Consort, we have prepared some special Coronation Big Lunch lesson plans.

These are targeted at KS3/4 but could be adapted for use with younger students.

Pupils are introduced to the idea of street food and the types of foods that are eaten around the world. They are then asked to design their own street food menu, exploring different vocabulary including how to order and pay in a restaurant. Pupils will present their menus as part of their own Pop-Up restaurant at a street party for HM The King and HM The Queen Consort’s Coronation.

This lesson can be used for any Modern Language and is linked to the following aspects of the curriculum: develop and use a wide-ranging and deepening vocabulary that goes beyond their immediate needs and interests. Speak coherently and confidently, with increasingly accurate pronunciation and intonation.
