Exercises for Y13 A level Maths students to build confidence in performing trigonometric integrals using the reverse chain rule or trig identities. Students use the chain rule to differentiate various trig expressions; this enables them to then integrate related trig expressions, using the fact that differentiation and integration are inverse operations. Double-angle formulae are then used to integrate yet other trig expressions. At the end is a review exercise with a mixture of types of trig integral.
The aim with this exercise is to build confidence, so there are no nasty surprises (or none that are intentional). Other resources are available to provide real stretch (just show them Gradshteyn and Ryzhik).
