What to Listen For In Music

Key Stage 3

Listening is a fundamental aspect of the music curriculum. Students need to acquire a music vocabulary so that they can talk about the features of music and discuss their responses to these features.

This pack uses a range of materials of varying levels which encourage and support students in responding appropriately to the music they are listening to.

Works with small groups of students, or as many as you have.

Simply choose the music, print and go.

Great for supply teachers too!

No musical background is required.

This resource includes;
• A set of 12 printable musical term posters with their definitions, including dynamics, form, genre, harmony, instrumentation, melody, mood, rhythm, texture, tempo, timbre and tonality – great for classroom display
• A matching set of 12 printable vocabulary posters for each musical term, designed to guide students and encourage discussion about what they listen for in music – great for classroom display
• A set of 28 printable, generic listening exercise worksheets ranging in approach and levels of difficulty so that you can differentiate appropriately.

Worksheets are in no particular order; you chose what is most suitable for your cohort
