  • Every week, I have children in my class who love to write their own stories. At the moment, it’s mainly the girls BUT the boys are starting too!
  • To promote and celebrate the love of story writing, I’ve created a blank story book template for children to complete.
  • I always leave around 20 of these blank book templates in my ‘Author’s lounge’ so that they are readily available for all budding story writers.
  • Just print off the relevant template (KS1 or KS2) and staple the books together.
  • The KS1 book template contains 10 writing pages plus a front and back cover. On each writing page, there is space to draw a picture too.
  • The KS2 book template contains 16 writing pages and a front and back cover. On every other page, there is space to draw a picture.
  • It’s amazing to see the children’s faces light up every time someone mentions their book being displayed in the ‘Author’s lounge’.
  • I use the KS1 book template with my current Year 2 class and they love it. They write stories about unicorns, princesses, frogs, heroes etc.
  • The KS2 book template is adapted to attract older writers and is currently being trialled with a Year 5 class.
  • 2 book templates attached - fully editable.
