This is part of the Whole School History Scheme in the Wardman Learning shop. It contains a detailed plan of the Year 2 unit on The Great Fire of London. It provides a detailed outline of 12 x 45 minute lessons covering the enquiry question: “How did the Great Fire of London change London, and why do we still remember it today?”
Each lesson follows the same structure:
• Lesson Question
• Learning Objective
• Historical Skill Focus
• Lesson Length
• Resources you will need
• Retrieval questions as a warm up (selected to recap previous learning from the unit)
• 10 minute skill builder or knowledge gathering task
• Main activity (25 minute, SEND friendly activities)
• SEND and EAL adaptations
• Choice menu (a self-selection menu for children to independently choose a task)
• Assessment descriptions for the lesson
The bundle includes a progression and assessment grid (for both history units from the Year 2 scheme) and an end of unit quiz for The Great Fire of London. All documents are in word format so you can edit and customise and adapt to your school and pupil needs. There are also powerpoint blanks that match the theme and provide a basic template to create your own lesson slides.
