This is a 3-4 lesson sequence of A-Level Sociology lessons designed for students new to the subject, covering all the basics they would have learned at GCSE. Lessons: What are families and households? What are the alternatives to living in a family? Is the nuclear family dead? Debate lesson based on structured independent study These lessons are designed to fit the AQA specification and build exam skills for the A-Level AQA paper. The lessons include challenge tasks and mini-quizzes throughout (inspired by the Rosenshine Principles pedagogy). In the “notes” section of each slide there are links to relevant information. These lessons include homework suggestions and video links. These lessons are designed to be taught using the red AQA A-Level Sociology Book One (Including AS Level) Napier Press Sociology textbook (By Webb Westergarrd Trobe and Townend).

This is a sequence of 5 lessons focusing on the Couple’s unit in the Family and Households topic for AQA A-Level Sociology. There is an exam-skill focused assessment and a reflection tasks included in this pack. My lessons are designed for non-specialists, they simplistic and easy to follow. Inspired by Rosenshine Principles of Instruction, these lessons feature retrieval practice, modelling and direct intruction. These lessons work alongside AQA A-Level Sociology Book One (Including AS Level) Napier Press Sociology textbook (By Webb Westergarrd Trobe and Townend).

GCSE Sociology (AQA/WJEC) - Families and Households

This is a entire SOW for the Families and Households topic. It includes 21x 75 minute lessons. It is suitable for both WJEC and AQA GCSE Sociology in terms of content, however the exam skills will be more focused on WJEC style questions. These are easily adaptable to suit AQA questions. These lessons are inspired by recent pedagogy, including the Rosenshine Principles and TLAC techniques. These resources have been praised and approved by experienced Sociology examiners. My resources include: Starter quizzes Videos Exam practice and model answers Whiteboard quizzes Structured discussion activities Please note, some activities require the use of the AQA GCSE (9-1) Sociology Textbook and the WJEC Eduqas GCSE Sociology textbook.
