A resource ideal for late KS2 or early KS3 students that looks at the story type “Rags to Riches” specifically at Cinderella written by the brother’s Grimm. Students are encouraged to spot the ‘Rags to Riches’ features in the story and later on look at different versions of this popular tale in different cultures.

This lesson guides students on how to approach the 19th C question in the AQA exam - A Christmas Carol. Students are guided on how to best approach the extract, analyse key quotes, plan their answer and eventually write out their own answer (helpful structure is provided). This works better as a revision lesson for students who have read the full novel and have a confident understanding of the plot.

The lesson looks at the poem ‘The Charge of the Light Brigade’ from the Power and Conflict anthology. The annotations are written in the form of questions so students have an active role in discussing its ideas. This lesson can be easily adapted for all abilities.

This is a complete lesson that explores Carol Rumens’ poem The Emigree. It works well as an introductory lesson to this poem or can be used as a revision tool for lower set students.
