Marriage and the Family - Edexcel GCSE

9 Resources
Hello, These lessons are designed for my year 9s and 10s to cover the second topic ‘Marriage and the Family’ for the Edexcel GCSE RS Spec B ‘Religion and Ethics through Christianity’. I have 2 hours per week with my year 9s but 1 hour with year 10 so I have uploaded the doubles but they can be condensed into one lesson if needed. Each lesson includes starter activity, learning objectives, differentiated tasks, engaging videos and images, stretch and challenge activities, exam questions, direct reference to scripture and denominations. I have also included the ‘Revision Pack’ which contains the Personal Learning Checklist & Core Knowledge Summary Sheet. Some lessons refer to the Oxford textbook - ‘Religion and Ethics through Christianity’ by Gordon Reid and Sarah K Tyler. This will be needed for some activities. I hope you find these useful and if you need anything at all please do ask and I will get back to you soon as possible. Many thanks, Mel

Matters of Life and Death - New Edexcel

Hello, I have created these lessons for the Edexcel GCSE RS Spec B ‘Religion and Ethics through Christianity’ topic 4 ‘Matters of Life & Death’. Each lesson contains starter task, core knowledge, activities, exam questions, scripture, Stretch & Challenge activities. Edexcel’s Scheme of Work recommends that we spend 2 hours on each subtopic so most are double lessons. However these can be condensed into 1 lesson if required. I had to do this with my current year 10s as I needed to fast track them whereas my year 9s have double the time. The lessons are based on the textbook written by Reid and Tyler - this is needed for some lessons. I have also included a double sided key knowledge revision sheet and Personal Learning Checklist. If you do have any questions please do ask, Mel

Christian Beliefs - Edexcel

9 Resources
Hello, These lessons are designed for my year 9s and 10s to cover the first topic ‘Christian Beliefs’ for the NEW Edexcel GCSE RS Spec B ‘Religion and Ethics through Christianity’. I have 2 hours per week with my year 9s but 1 hour with year 10 so I have uploaded the doubles but they can be condensed into one lesson if needed. Lessons includes starter activity, learning objectives, differentiated tasks, engaging videos and images, stretch and challenge activities, exam questions, direct reference to scripture and denominations. They are based on the textbook endorsed by Edexcel written by Reid and Tyler (2016). However it is not essential to have it for these lessons. I have also added a double sided key knowledge revision sheet which summarises most important knowledge. I hope you find these useful and if you need anything at all please do ask and I will get back to you soon as possible. Many thanks, Mel

GCSE RELIGIOUS STUDIES EDEXCEL / Specification B Topic: Muslim Beliefs These lessons have been designed for Spring Term 2020 and cover the entire topic of Muslim Beliefs. I have also included ‘Muslim Beliefs Revision Pack’ which includes a Personal Learning Checklist, a 2 page topic summary and A3 revision worksheet which I use in drop down sessions in year 11. The lessons are planned for 1 hour each with my year 10s but can easily be adapted to a double lesson. I have based these lessons on the Edexcel endorsed textbook written by Waqar Ahmad Ahmedi. Students will not need this textbook to complete the lesson but I wanted to make you as the purchaser of this resource aware. My lessons have been rated ‘Outstanding’ within internal school reviews and by Oftsed, they have been downloaded over 18,000 times and I often receive personal emails from fellow RS teachers thanking me for sharing my work. I have also won ‘Secondary Teacher of the Year 2020’ in the Essex Teaching Awards. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to email me on my personal email @ lady_mel@hotmail.co.uk

Hello, These lessons are designed for my year 10s to cover the second topic ‘Crime and Punishment’ for the NEW Edexcel GCSE RS Spec B ‘Religion, Peace and Conflict through Islam’. Lessons includes starter activity, learning objectives, differentiated tasks, engaging videos and images, stretch and challenge activities, exam questions, direct reference to scripture and denominations if applicable. They are based on the textbook written by Ahmedi (2016). You will need it for some tasks. The Scheme of Work recommends we spend 2 hours on each subtopic however due to time constraints I have created 1 lesson per sub topic apart from Lesson 1. I did this so we could fast track our current year 10 as need to get the course finished. I hope you find these useful and if you need anything at all please do ask and I will get back to you soon as possible. Many thanks, Mel

KS3 How did faith begin? Scheme of Learning

Hello fellow teachers! I am Head of RS at a secondary school without a religious character. I have found that many of the year 7s have little understanding of the six world faiths and non-religious views. As a solution I have developed a scheme of learning with a booklet and Powerpoints to introduce the origin stories of the six world religions, Paganism and atheism with a focus on Humanists UK. Please remember that these resources have been created for a majority non-religious student group and for non-specialist staff to use across my school. You may need to tweak certain parts so they are relevant to your own student body
