This resource is ideal for Father's Day and includes a poem about a super hero Dad who loses his heroic powers after 6pm. The fast-talking, dog-walking, all-knowing Dad becomes more of the cocoa-drinking, sock-stinking kind of guy we all know and love. Pupils can think of how their own father resembles a super hero and they are asked to supply six adjectives to describe his best qualities. Suitable for all ages and superhero fans.

This resource draws comparisons between an Elizabethan audience and a contemporary audience of a Shakespeare play. Comparisons are made between the size of an average audience, the age, the cost per ticket, the social class, their expectations of a play and their behaviour as audience members. In formation is given about the role of the fool, boy actors and the hierarchical nature of the performers within an acting company. This information is relevant particularly to Shakespeare and the Globe. Suitable for ages 12+

This resource is a story about a King who does not listen to his adviser's words, whilst watching a spectacle involving a talented magician. The adviser proves in the end that through sheer hard work and consistent effort, he deserves his freedom from the dungeon. He uses his own words to prove a point. Pupils answer questions involving retrieving information from the text, making inferences, explaining writer's choices and composing an extended answer advising a friend who is struggling with their schoolwork. This is a resource which would be useful at this time of year when trying to encourage a good work ethic and improve performance. Answers and mark scheme are included. Suitable for ages 7+

This animated Power Point has twenty questions all to do with water and its properties. The questions test scientific and geographical knowledge. This resource includes a poem about the sea which is told rather like a riddle. This quiz can be dropped into any lesson concerning water and could be used as a resource for revision or to kick start further investigation and independent research. I include a word document about the problem of plastic waste in our seas and oceans which includes some advice from Greenpeace. Students are invited to contribute ideas of their own to help solve this growing problem and they are encouraged to design a poster outlining the issue. Suitable for ages 8+

This Power Point takes extracts from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, removes all traces of punctuation and asks readers to re-write Rowling's words adding the necessary capital letters etc The intention is that students will have to focus carefully on the passages and use their knowledge and understanding of punctuation to bring the extracts back to life. The correct versions will magically appear. Comprehension questions based on the extracts follow and opportunities for further reading and creative writing are provided. This activity will appeal to Potter fans and give a novel twist to revision.

This resource is ideal to use on the run up to Easter. It contains a crossword where all the answers are the names of well known chocolate bars. When the answers are placed correctly onto the grid the highlighted letters, when rearranged will spell out the name of a famous Roald Dahl character. Pupils are required to think about a place to go where their family would enjoy a special day out and also design their own chocolate bar thinking about the ingredients contained within it as well as the packaging. There is an information text and associated questions and worksheets which will allow pupils to investigate further. One of the questions requires pupils to work out 20% of a given statistic. This animated Power point resource describes a day out at the sea-side for the Lute family who think they know all about pollution and yet show that their knowledge is as shallow as the sea lapping up against the litter with which they have decorated their sandcastle. The audience are requested to think how the family could have behaved differently and to question what their own families do on days out at the coast. Included is the famous riddle about St Ives and so the pupils can see how a small problem can be multiplied and that we should be all doing our bit by picking up the plastic one piece at a time. Ideal as a discussion starting point on the effects of pollution especially in a coastal setting and as the Summer holidays approach, a cautionary tale! This resource will stretch reading and comprehension skills as well as providing an opportunity to demonstrate maths skills at the same time… recommended for ages 8+

This PowerPoint focuses on those words which are especially difficult to spell because they have silent or unexpected letters in them. Pupils are asked to supply the missing letters , to complete a passage using those tricky words and to invent sentences of their own. This resource should prove useful when revising tricky spellings of all kinds and is suitable for ages 7+ depending on ability.

This quiz is based on Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. Two possible answers are provided to each question. If the wrong answer is selected a mysterious forfeit is revealed. If the correct answer is selected then that leaves more precious reading time . Included is an information text about ancient broom-stick games from around the world where pupils are required to compare and contrast the evolution of various hilarious games and will be inspired to invent their own gaming broomstick perhaps. This resource will complement the reading of J.K.Rowling's book but will also appeal to Potter fans in general. This resource accompanies a Power Point presentation which can be found in my shop but could also be used without it. It tests pupils' knowledge about the firefly squid and their understanding of bioluminescence including photophore cells. It gives pupils the opportunity to unscramble key words from the text and to go further with their own research about oceans with specific reference to Japan. Pupils attempt to improve sentences and make them more interesting, substitute more powerful verbs, identify prepositions etc. They are required to write descriptive paragraphs such as describing a friend, an ideal bedroom or a favourite animal. This power point is a simple narrative about a hamster called Spock. Pupils are required to read the short story and then answer the related questions. They are required to use dictionary skills to define trickier words from the story. The pupils are then required to choose an option to write about: describe their ideal pet or design a des res for a hamster like Spock. I include an extra revision aid which could be used to strengthen writing skills and provides an opportunity for descriptive writing concerning animals and pets. This resource is suitable for ages 7+

This resource is displayed in landscape view and is a poem about a Dad whose smelly feet are legendary. Birds stop singing and drop cross-eyed from their perch and Alsatians cover their noses from the terrible stench of Dad's cheesy feet. Pupils can draw their favourite image from the poem and then create their own version specific to their own father. They are asked to think of six things they most admire about their father and also to recall a favourite memory, perhaps where their father inspired them with confidence to do something. This resource is ideal for National Poetry week activities and is suitable for all ages.
