An A3 resource which will help students to begin to think about how to structure their answers and how to compare poems. Examples are provided and the success criteria is included on the sheet. Please note you will receive one A3 sheet, as seen in the picture.

Task: Circle the correct beginning sound of the following pictures.

An A3 PDF resource that I created and used with my mixed ability KS3 English class. I got the learners to write down each character in the play and asked them to write down the character’s personality traits. They then drew each character (their interpretation of what they thought that character would look like). Learners were also asked to pick a key quote from the play that best reflected that character’s personality. Following this, they then wrote an overview of each scene. This was in preparation for a practice essay question.

This activity is based on the Roald Dahl book: The Witches. It focuses on the chapter: How to Recognize Witches. The first activity is to get learners to use their skimming and scanning skills and to extract information from the book. The second activity is an article writing task. Great for KS2 & KS3.

This quiz will test your learner’s knowledge of the novel. Once they have read the entire novel, get them to grab their white boards and try to answer each multiple choice question. There are 23 questions for learners to answer which are from chapter 1 to chapter 12 of the novel.
