Here are 30 starter cards that I developed for pupil led starter activities, although tailored towards D&T, they can be modified for most subjects. I use these by getting a pupil to choose one at the end of a lesson, in order to deliver it for the next lesson. I also use them myself to prompt further activities/ mini plenaries in lessons. I designed these posters with prompt questions so I didn't have to repeat myself so much when talking about controlled assessment. I use these for specifications, product analysis, annotation generally across the whole design process. I have found that this has helped with literacy in pupils work. Here are 48 plenaries I have tried to design the cards for pupils to use in order to promote student leadership in lessons. I also use them myself to promote variety in my lessons. I cut them out and laminated them in order to produce a deck of cards pupils pick out 4 cards and deliver one of those 4 activities. Although I have adapted these tasks for technology, many of them are generic and can be used in your own way across all subjects. I hope you find these useful. Here we have an assessment grid and posters to go with each strand. The posters are pupil friendly in language and colour coded to represent each level. I have tried to create icons for each phrase. I have tried to create an image related to each of the strands that we use to assess i.e. the planning poster is based around a flow chart and the generating ideas poster is based around a mind map. Hopefully you and enjoy these posters my pupils find them useful in self and peer assessment, we have them on display across our department.
