Warfare 1500-1700 Tarsia Revision Puzzle

This Tarsia puzzle covers the theme of the medieval warfare 1500-1700. Great for 9-1 GCSE revision, intervention sessions and learning without pens. Christmas Through Time Activity Booklet: Bumper Pack.

It’s always nice to give your students something Christmassy to work towards as it gets closer. I’ve updated this resource due to it’s popularity. This 10 page booklet can be printed in colour or black and white. Students can work through the different activities suggested in one go or once a week. I’ve used these resources with different ages but it would work best for lower secondary or primary school. The resources tell the Christmas story, look into traditions today and explore how Christmas was celebrated in the Tudor and Medieval period. The additional Powerpoint may also be used for other activities. Comments are appreciated. Images acquired through a search engine filtered to labelled for reuse.

Medicine Through Time - How use is this source type questions - Q3 of Edexcel 2013

(1)
My students get really worried when looking at "how useful is this source" type questions of the Edexcel medicine paper. This is currently Q3 of the 2013 onwards paper. This lesson seeks to build up their understanding of how to explain a source's usefulness. This lesson contains two example questions, some sentence starters to develop structure and most of a model answer. Students can then be set an example for homework. This lesson could be supported by pages 30-31 of the new edition of the Edexcel endorsed textbook (2013 edition). Comments are appreciated :-)

This resource was planned for Edexcel's medicine through time course however it could easily be adapted to suit other boards or lower year groups. Students go through a range of activities to gather and secure their knowledge of Nightingale. Independence is encouraged and students have to work hard to complete all activities within the hour. I use both the Edexcel endorsed brown textbook and the older Edexcel blue and white Dawson textbook in my medicine classes. This is a KS3 assessment planned for Y8 students. Students are presented with two sources and they are expected to draw out similarities and differences in order to assess how far the sources agree. Excellent preparation for GCSE and beyond! Video clips are built in, so that students can recap knowledge. This should take place after contextual lessons about the Suffragettes and Suffragists. Any questions please comment :-) Images have been acquired through a search engine filtered to "labelled for reuse".

How democratic was the UK/Britain in the 1800s? Two hour long lessons!

(0)
In this lesson students begin to explore people's rights, these two lessons were designed to support a new topic on campaigning for rights. In the first lesson students are encouraged to explore the nature of democracy in Britain during the 1800s. In the second lesson students look at who could and couldn't vote using a series of characters. A video clip about human rights through time is embedded. The first lesson will require the red SHP textbook "Re-discovering Britain 1500-1750" page 86 for the main task. Otherwise all required sheets are attached. Comments are appreciated.
