Once the student has found the correct IV and DV, they swap the IV and DV slip of paper (they keep their study). Now that the student has the correct (assuming it is correct) they need to identify which is the IV and which is the DV. Even though the students exchange the IV and DV slips of paper, one will still have slip that belongs to someone else.
