British International School of Tbilisi
About British International School of Tbilisi
BIST is a school that prides itself on the warmth of its welcome to children and parents from all around the world. The multi-national community represented at BIST by pupils and their families as well as staff, helps to create a learning environment which fosters a global understanding and appreciation of each other and the variety of cultures we bring to our school daily.
Our school believes that education is essential for achieving success in today’s rapidly changing world. We offer a dynamic, creative and supportive learning environment in which students of all abilities are encouraged and have opportunities to realize their academic and personal potential. Class sizes are small with a maximum of 20 students in each year. Our classrooms are well-resourced with books and learning materials. Each classroom is equipped with an interactive Smartboard.
The BIST Primary Curriculum (Years 1-6) follows the requirements set out by the UK government for England and Wales, but has been adapted to reflect the needs of an increasingly international and multi-cultural environment. The BIST Primary Curriculum is a unique combination of two internationally recognized programmes: Cambridge Primary (CP) and International Primary Curriculum (IPC). English and Mathematics are taught as discrete subjects through Cambridge Primary as well as being incorporated into the interdisciplinary themes where relevant. The remainder of the curriculum is integrated into exciting themes and delivered through the International Primary Curriculum. ICT contributes to learning and teaching in all areas and is integrated into subject teaching throughout the curriculum.
BIST is a member of the Council of British International Schools (COBIS).
