Castleford Academy is an exceptional over-subscribed 11-16 school catering for over 1,400 pupils. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum; we are proud of our achievements and firm commitment to providing an excellent education for all. Our expectations are high, and this is reflected in our successful academic record. Leaders challenge and support all stakeholders to achieve outstanding outcomes for all pupils. We value our people and are committed to attracting, developing and retaining high quality staff by creating opportunities for professional growth and development.
At the heart of everything we do is our commitment to improving the lives of the children in the Castleford community. This reflected in our outcomes. Our progress 8 score is consistently above the national average with pupils at Castleford Academy achieving almost half a grade higher than expected in their subjects. We significantly outperform other schools locally and are regularly placed in the top 20% of schools nationally. Behind the headline measures lies the hard work and dedication of all of the pupils, staff and support from parents, which made these results possible.
The Academy is committed to 'working together to achieve excellence for all'. Staff receive a comprehensive and bespoke annual professional development programme and are supported to develop and progress their careers within the Trust academies.
The academy is committed to supporting staff in all areas of their professional development and their well-being. We believe in a healthy work-life balance and have many support mechanisms to make sure this is the case. Reducing unnecessary workload is a constant priority for leaders. in addition to this, staff well-being is supported through a range of on-site activities and facilities e.g. a Sports Hall & Fitness Suite offering superb facilities for staff and access to the SAS Wellbeing service (including free GP appointments, physiotherapy and counselling). To further support work-life balance, the Trust have recently introduced an annual paid personal day for all staff working at the academy.
Castleford Academy is 5 minutes from the M62 and the Academy is just a 25 minute drive from Leeds, Wakefield, Doncaster and York. There is easy access to the A1 and M62 and we have staff working for us from as far as Huddersfield, Harrogate, North Leeds, Barnsley and Sheffield.
