There are AFL opportunities throughout the lesson. A picture stimulus and writing formula is used to equip weaker writers and to provide them with a starting point. It is aimed at KS3+4 - I use it with everyone from Y7 to 11, depending on their needs. I daresay KS2 could also make use of this, although I have never tried. It is also useful for AO6 in the new AQA English Language GCSE Section B Writing Paper 1 and Paper 2.
