This booklet is designed to give students the knowledge and understanding of Concertos through time from the OCR GCSE specification. Within the booklet there are sections to help students build up their knowledge, listen to different extracts and answer extended questions. At the end of each question there is a personal learning checklist that can be used to test students on their existing knowledge. To conclude the booklet there are 2 OCR style exam sections with links to extracts on youtube so students can contextualise their knowledge and apply this to example questions.

Instructions: Students will need a copy of this worksheet and a piece of sheet music each. I usually get mine off musescore as it is free and easy to search for popular songs. The worksheet asks students to identify different elements of the sheet music such as pitch, rhythm, key signature and BPM and is suitable for students learning how to read music. In the past I have struggled to find cover work for non specialist teachers in instrument free classrooms that is appropriate to what we are doing in class but this works really well and can be adapted to suit different abilities.

This is a template for a teacher planner specifically aimed at music teachers, but any teacher can use it as there are general pages that are applicable to all subjects and age groups. This planner includes: - Front page - Notes page - Weekly planner - Daily planner - Termly planner - Assessment grids - KS3 grading criteria - OCR grading criteria for coursework - Coursework record Each page has the ability to customise aspects of it and you are free to print off multiple pages as it is made in a word document. I use this as a print out and put it in a ring binder/teacher folder for the year but you can have it as a paper planner or send it off to be printed professionally.

The aim of this unit is to enable students to form a small band and compose a blues song by utilising drums, vocals, chords (on guitar or keyboard) and bass. Within this resource pack there are documents that will help support the learning and also differentiate tasks accordingly. These lessons are aimed at KS3 students but can be used for KS4 to teach them the basics of the blues. This resource is to help students improve their evaluation skills by giving them sentence starters and ideas to include during their assessments of their own and others' work. This mat includes some of the elements of music and a definition to assist with this process and encourage students to use musical terminology. As the years develop, so do the key words and their definitions. The KS3 mats are simple and aimed towards the evaluation of performances and the KS4 mat is geared towards the current OCR GCSE Music key terms and ideas.

This resource includes a scheme of learning for pupils learning about samba music that should last for 6 hour long lessons. Pupils will learn about: Unison Canon Improvisation Call and response Polyrhythms Dynamics Retrograde Triplets Developing rhythms At the end of this series of lessons pupils will have composed a piece of samba music to be assessed. The page numbers refer to a booklet that I have created which will be online at a later date. You do not have to use the booklet, you can use lined paper, exercise books or individual sheets.
