5.1.3 Temperature control in ectotherms and 5.1.4 Temperature control in endotherms
The bundle contains activities/resources for the second half of 5.1 Communication & Homeostasis (OCR). The students have tasks they can do as homework in preparation for the lesson and then in-class activities where they make a ‘no word powerpoint’ that they present back to the class in the same lesson.
Then in 5.1.4 there is an activity that analysis data associated with temperature control in endotherms.
These lessons should cover the syllabus point:
d) the physiological and behavioural responses involved in temperature control in ectotherms and endotherms.
- include:
- endotherms – peripheral temperature receptors, the role of the hypothalamus and effectors in skin and muscles; behavioural responses
- ectotherms – behavioural responses.
