The first unit of Year 7 computing, made easy to teach. A fake “Secure Password Checker” asks for their school password, and calls them a twonk the moment they start typing (nothing is ever kept). Then they find the hazards in a drawn IT room, test passwords inside the page, judge and fix emails, write kind comments, give an awful slide a makeover, plan a presentation on cyberbullying, and spot the eight mistakes on a made-up profile.

Nobody presents. Pupils plan a presentation for a Year 7 assembly, but they are told at the very start that they will not be standing up to give it.

Covers: strong passwords and phishing, IT room safety, respectful emails, who can see what you do online, digital footprints, kind and helpful comments, sharing and commenting in Google Docs, audience, accessible slides, copyright and Creative Commons, cyberbullying (including the impact on those who bully), researching from real websites (not AI summaries), friend requests, private profiles, how friends’ posts can give you away, and CEOP.

What you get:
• 6 self-contained interactive lesson pages that pupils work through beside Gmail, Docs and Slides
• Every idea explained in plain Year 7 language
• Find-it pictures, fix-it emails and slides, and sorting and judging in every lesson
• Pupils write their own reasons before they see the answers
• Star challenges for quick finishers, and help for those who need it
• Safeguarding notes for the teacher, and help links for pupils (Childline, CEOP)
• One Google Doc for the whole unit, with clear steps for saving their work
• No logins, no installs, no pupil data stored
• Teacher Instructions and IT Instructions included
