This is an induction lesson aimed at new or prospective students for A Level Religious Studies, introducing the philosophy aspect of the course.
It is designed with the OCR specification in mind, however it would also work with other specifications.
It includes a powerpoint with the information and instructions, a worksheet for students to complete and reading resources for the activities.
The powerpoint contains:
- a video clip and optical illusions demonstrating the unreliability of our senses
- a reading and comprehension activity based on Plato’s cave and Descartes’ meditations
- an activity analysing the ideas of rationalism and empiricism
