28 English lessons, each with a printable worksheet and facing teachers’ notes, in a 60-page PDF. The notes include student learning targets, teacher assessment grids, classroom management guidance and extension activities.

Bring Year 7 or Year 8 intake students up to speed with secondary English and monitor progress using the pack’s built-in assessment. This is the second of three packs designed for the terms of the foundation year.

Topics include reading aloud, formal and informal language, script writing, comprehension, clear expression, apostrophes, poetry writing and choosing descriptive words. Activities also explore picture-based storytelling, proverbs, non-verbal communication, story maps, interviews and biographical writing.

Each lesson has a specific focus, with assessment prompts to help you set individual targets and recognise progress. The teachers’ notes provide aims, preparation where needed, advice on running the lesson, differentiation possibilities and ideas for extending the work.

Suitable for KS3 English, supported English and integrated studies sessions. Use discussion, individual work, paired or group tasks and whole-class sharing as appropriate. The original introduction, assessment grids and general guidelines are included; the guidelines suggest allowing approximately an hour per lesson.
