Teacher Character Traits Lesson

This lesson will help you teach what a character trait is, explain how authors hint at characters personalities and give students the opportunity to put this skill into practice.

There is a 14 page slide show to teach character traits. This Powerpoint has examples within it. It will also be used to set the task for students to apply this skill.

During the application phase of the lesson students will be given a character trait, they then need to come up with actions, thoughts & feelings and appearance descriptions for this trait.

There are 15 different character trait worksheets. I normally distribute a mixture across the room to allow for a rich discussion. These can then be displayed as a future reference point.

This lesson is a great way to teach inference skills as students have to think about how authors infer character traits.
