Practise reading and plotting coordinates in all four quadrants, then use them to name shapes, find a missing corner and find midpoints. 16 questions, full answers included.

Worksheet (1 page): eight questions on a grid from −5 to 5. The first questions ask for the coordinates of marked points, with dashed across-then-up guides and one point already written in as a model, and the support then drops away, including points that sit on the axes. Students then plot and join points to name two shapes, plot the fourth corner of a rectangle, and find the midpoint of a line.

Further practice (1 page): eight questions graded by difficulty: a midpoint read from a grid, the distance between two points with the same x-coordinate, the missing vertex of a kite using a line of symmetry, the area of a rectangle from its corners, a midpoint on a park map, finding an end point from a midpoint, following a drone’s moves across the grid, and explaining whether (−4, 0) lies on the y-axis.

Answers to all 16 questions are included as a separate file.

Suitable for GCSE Foundation (AQA A8) and for Key Stage 3 classes working on coordinates.
