What’s included?
This download includes x3 resources (to be used together) as x4 A4, landscape pdf sheets to practise counting objects to 10 and labelling each group with the correct numeral. This activity set has been designed to use with miniature ‘Easter chicks’ as pictured on the cover image.

What’s it for?
This resource has been designed to make good use of those lovely little chicks that are generally everywhere at Easter time! This activity set encourages learners to count up to 10 objects (chicks!) and label each group (brood!) with the correct numeral (from 1 - 10). Grass ‘egg holders’ are included to display the egg number labels once learners have sorted and counted each group of chicks (from 1 to 10).

Who’s it for?
This resource has been designed for early years children, pupils in years one and two as well as older students needing additional learning support.

How to use this resource
This has been designed for an adult to pre-cut items so that this activity set can be presented to learners to investigate and explore independently as a ‘table top’ activity.

There is a sheet featuring ‘numbered eggs’ to be cut out and used to ‘label’ the groups of chicks once they have been counted out. Grass ‘egg holders’ to ‘hold’ each numbered egg are also included.

There are two pages featuring groups containing different amounts of eggs (between 0 and 10). Learners are to count out the corresponding number of Easter chicks onto each of these cards - placing one chick on one egg, practising using 1:1 correspondence.

Resource Details
For durability, all sheets should be printed on cardstock.

  • Resource 1

This single-page resource includes 11 numbered eggs (0–10) with dotted lines to guide cutting.

  • Resource 2

Across two pages, you’ll find 11 rectangular boxes, each with a green outline and a different number of eggs inside (0–10). Learners count out the corresponding number of chicks and place them on the eggs. Once all cards are completed, they can be labeled with the numbered eggs from Resource 1.

  • Resource 3

This single-page resource includes x10 “grass” holders for the numbered eggs. These can be assembled to help the eggs stand upright on a table instead of lying flat. Simple assembly instructions are provided on the sheet.
