This unit teaches children how to identify whether an animal is a carnivore, omnivore or herbivore based on physical features of living creatures through investigation of dinosaurs. The children will learn about ‘dragons’ from an old letter from Mary Anning and will discover that her sea dragon was in fact an ichthyosaur, learning about changes through time in the process. The children will learn about how the continents have moved across the surface of the planet and will compare maps of Pangea to today’s world maps, as well as investigate the coastal town of Lyme Regis.
All curriculum statements included for subjects, along with planned blooms taxonomy questions.
PowerPoints have some printable worksheets, animations and video links.
